Ivor the Engine - Original Black & White Stories (1959–1962)

These stories are taken from the original black-and-white Ivor the Engine television series, first broadcast between 1959 and 1962. Preserved from the original recordings, the audio reflects the production methods of the time and includes some natural variation in sound quality. This is part of the character and authenticity of these early episodes, offering a rare opportunity to hear Ivor and his world as they were first experienced. In Alice, Alice the elephant is feeling unwell and turns out to be a determinedly difficult patient. It is a funny animal story with a very stubborn friend at its centre. Restoration note: First recorded in the 1950s, these classic performances have been lovingly remastered using the best surviving source material to provide the finest possible listening experience. While every effort has been made to improve clarity, the age and condition of the original recordings mean that occasional background interference or minor imperfections may still be audible. We hope you enjoy this beautifully restored classic.
